communications & PR Intern (2).png

Since you’ve made it this far you probably know that Stichting Estwards is a cultural foundation acting as a platform for contemporary Eastern European arts and culture. Our programme includes events such as festivals, exhibitions, film screenings, creative workshops, debates and other cultural activities. Our biggest project is Spotlight: Romania Film Festival and we need YOUR help! The festival started in 2015 and offers a fresh and vibrant take at contemporary Eastern European Culture. Each year it combines cinema with a new discipline or theme, exploring how different mediums complement each other in order to create an exciting experience for the festival-goer. We have combined film with documentary photography (2015), with contemporary music (2016) and with experimental video art (2017), while in 2018 the festival centred around the theme of Celebration in the context of the Romanian Centennial.

This year the theme will be Film & Identity, highlighting the complexity of identity processes through fun activities including a food truck, a jam session, a public debate and naturally a wide range of new films. The festival is hosted at De Nieuwe Regentes Theater in Den Haag, a beautiful 1920s Art Deco bath house transformed into a cultural centre and community cinema.
